{ Hell Freezes Over: Autocad }
posted by

I know we've all (well us arch-ys atleast) problems and woes with Autocad on a mac, virtual pc just sorta blows... but apparently it's happened.... it's coming, Autocad for the mac (plays ominous music). Apparently the last time Autocad was made for a mac was back in ol' 1992, 18 years ago... wow. I know friends who have worked at firms that have used software like Archicad and others, god forbid Datacad, but Autocad is the industry standard, especially since the push towards BIM (building integrated modeling) and I think Revit (Autocad owned) is also the leader there. Hooray for all the upcoming architecture students, your life just got a whole lot easier. {via}

Up close and personal Time made all these eye candy (and mouth candy) shots by taking crytallizing some of the mixed beverages on a lab slide, then passing a polarized light through the slide... I don't know science talk, but it sure makes Margarita look like a Georgia O'Keefe sketch... mixed in with some peacock feathers. {via}

Apparently, a court house in (get this) Crossville, Tennessee has allowed a statue of the Great 'Flying Spaghetti Monster' to sit outside. Who would have thought here in lil' old Tennessee, you know the state that just a little while ago was routing for Basil Marceaux for Governor, or wait... isn't there some sort of Mosque debate going on just down the road? Sometimes the future seem bleak in this closed minded state, but I am glad for this one. statement from the SFM group: We are lucky enough to live in a country that allows us, its citizens, the freedom of speech. I have chosen to put up a statue of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to represent the discourse between people of all different beliefs.{via}

So I never really get too political or religious ...mainly because I'm not confrontational, and too many out there will have strong opinions on it, and it's not worth jeopardizing friendships and what not. It's just not worth it, but this guy... oh man! I used to know this dude back from marching band, and we are facebook friends, but the kind that never talks to one another... nor do I have the need to. But Wow! I just can't believe such closed mindedness. This is ridculous! I had to vent and share. Enjoy a snippet of his page.

{ Dr. Sketchy: coming to you }
posted by

So I've recently fallen in love with Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School. These gals basically set up life drawing classes in bars (it was started in 2005 by Molly Crabtree in a dive bar in Brooklyn) and it open to anyone who loves to drink and sharpen their drawing skills... or lack of skillz. Any and everyone no matter the skill level are encouraged to attend. I haven't been yet, but I've been watching vids and reading reviews, and am a little distraught there isn't a branch in good ol' Knoxville. But not to fear, I have requested more info! I'll keep you guys posted on that, but in the mean time let me know your thoughts. I mean who doesn't want to drawing gorg-half-nakie ladies? love love

{ The More You Know: Magenta }
posted by

So this interesting little article was pointed out to me this morning. Apparently Magenta doesn't exist in the color spectrum (and I don't mean this Magenta). It was made (or invented if you will) to be the complimentary of green, and here I was thinking Red was the complimentary. Pssfff - thanks for nothing art classes! Apparently it's represented by light from the two far ends of the color spectrum, infrared and ultraviolet, so it is basically forcing us to see that color. To get more of your learn on, check it out here {via}
