{ Old George }

Who needs him? I would much rather see Ms. Gaga on the dollar. {via}

{ All Together Now }

WOW! I'm so not a fan of Beatles covers, growing up on the Beatles has made these songs almost all perfect classics, but Andre 3000 did a FANTASTIC soulful electro-funk job! I've always had a soft spot for the guy, but wow! I'm just in love with this version! It's campiness from the original works so well for Andre's typical style. Enjoy!

{ Stuff My Kids Ruin }

even thought I don't personally have kids, I do have friends who do, and can pretty easily remember some of my own younger shananagins... This site is pretty priceless at documenting what monsters kids can be. I think I would be pretty peeved if most of my stuff (laptops, couches, and yes, even the household dog) was ruined. {via}

{ Night Terrors }

I'm in LOVE with this Kid Cudi cover, and I've never even heard of this Lissie lady, but now I'm lookin' out for more great stuff from this song bird.

{ Not for the Color Blind }

Another fabulous find via Jennifer's gtalk. It's the Munsell Hue Test. I got an 8 what did you guys get? you have to do all 4 rows and you want the lowest score. Give it a try and enjoy!

{ Head Thumping vol. 1 }

So I'm always posting music, so this should be a reoccurring post (and name). So here it is! Enjoy!

1. Arcade Fire - Ready to Start. I can't wait for this new album to come out. I'm loving this song so far more than anything else I've heard. It's really different from the rest of their stuff (previous albums, Neon Bible, Funeral), and even reminds me a little of Travis (although not as vocal-y sweet).

2. Wolf Parade - Ghost Whisper. I had no idea WP had an album coming out in the next 2 weeks, but that definitely makes me excited! These guys never disappoint.

3. Stars - Wasted Daylight. Love these lovely Canadians. Such a sweet voice and I'm all about this electronic feel to this song. It's still no, your ex lover is dead (my fave Stars song, hands down)

{ Take it off }

The Eizo (a medical supplier) Pin up Calendar offers you more than just a lil' T+A, this calendar showcases it's ladies beyond the nude.  ctm ... and I'm just loving the shoes!  {via}

{ New MIA love }

Another new song on repeat on my play list, MIA - XXXO. It's cute, but no Paper Planes, but still a good sound for her, and really showcases her vocals. I also love the recent spat between Gaga and MIA, but regardless, enjoy this infectious tune!

{ Toooot Tooooooot }

Crazy South Africans, makin the World Cup games more awesome with the Vuvuzela horns. But don't you wish you could hear them when all the time, like even if you aren't at or watching the games? well now you can! (thanks Ryan!) Check out http://www.vuvuzela-time.co.uk/ to browse any site as if you are at the games! Enjoy!

{ I am in Love! }

With Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros! Singer, Alex Ebert - originally from IMA ROBOT, channels a messianic figure who was sent down to Earth to heal and save mankind, but keeps fallin in love. I say, hooray! and keep it up! I first heard this song today on 90.3 the rock, and fell instantly in love....so I guess Edward Sharp is doin a good job! Here's a listen, and let me know your thoughts. I'm now on the search for this on vinyl. ENJOY!

{ Surrealist Fashion }

I found this article via vintage vixen (she too cute!), and was really excited! I'm such a Salvador Dali fan + fashion. Look at his influence and ideas. I'm just too inlove with this skeleton dress!
The most notorious, prolific and ultimately commercial of the Surrealists – that revolutionary group of artists, poets and provocateurs that grew out of Dadaism in 1920s Paris – was undoubtedly Salvador Dalí. The Spanish Catalan best known for his masterly technical skill as a painter and perversely sexualized subjects had his hand in just about anything he could put his name on, due in part to the push from his wife Gala who was keen to collect a paycheck and not so bothered by the virtue of integrity. However, the signed blank lithographs and commercials for Alka Seltzer aside, most of Dalí’s forays into ventures outside of his main discipline were inspired, original, and hugely influential.
Case in point: anything we see with lips these days could be considered a direct reference to Dali’s iconic Mae West Lips Sofa from 1937 and his Ruby Lips brooch, created in 1949, also based on the sexy actress’ famous bouche. British designer Lulu Guinness is one who owes him her trademark padded lips clutch. {via}

{ Hey CoCo }

Sounds like Chanel? But it's better! It's Beth Martin + her beautiful sketch books! that's right! Ms. Martin started a gorgeous Etsy Shop to sell her one of kind, hand made sketch books. If you sketch and doodle as much as me, and value these doodles, Hey Coco is the place to get your treasured books. These coptic bound books can be customized or used for photo albums, note taking, and sketching. If you need a sweet gift or a gorgeous treat for yourself I totes recommend her shop! and be sure to check out the behind the scenes with her blog!

{ Fivers? }

No. it's not a high five, or somethng you get from a hooker (or give) but a pretty cute and funny new site I was turned onto by the loverly beth martin! It's basically a 'craigslist' but all items (or services) are only $5.00! yeah, that's right $5! what's even better than $5?!? how about the services this site offers? One of my faves is a fellow will call up your father and wish him a happy dad's day! another top ranking for me was I will write you a lo-fi indie pop song for $5. It's pretty damn cute! check it! {via}

{ Hot and Famous Hubby Helps }

So jack white's lady wife (not meg... we all were confused by that at first) Karen Elson has released an album, and it's pretty good too... I don't have the whole album listened to yet, but check out this song. So far I like! Who knew this brit super model could sing? {via}

{ World Cup Update + crocheting }

So the first game was a lil' sloppy and slow, but all and all a good showing from two pretty solid teams, Mexico and South Africa. Unfortunately it was just a draw (1 to 1), but I have found world cup time to be crocheting time too, atleast for the teams I'm not praying for (GOOOOOO ARGENTINA!). But the point of this post is to shout out to Kat for this INCREDIBLE website for knitters and crocheters, raverly. It's super cute and has TONs of good patterns and advice, for freez of course. Check it out if you are crafty!

{ I know you're out there somewhere }

So... Life out in space? I think it's a really big deal and probability, so this news totally got me excited. Word on the street is Voyager 2 was HIJACKED (yeah, right?... really?) by aliens and is sending back a code our human scientists just can't figure out. I don't know if I really believe this, it's on a few other sites on the interweb, but the most specific article I found / was forwarded from a friend, states that the 1977 Voyager, which originally contained music and greetings, now is beepin back unknown signal. To me this sounds suspicious, but who knows!? this could be it! {via}

{ USA - all the way }

ever wonder what the flag would look like with more / less stars? this fancy lil' math calculator does it for you. I mean, it seems important that we might have to add a few stars for guam and puerto rico, right? I think it's just a matter of time before they are more official. {via}

{ Songs of the Day }

These are the hits on repeat in my head / headphones lately

1. Sleigh Bells - Take a Heart. I just can't get enough of this song. It's fun, distorted, and thumps the shit outta my brain! The beats are insane! and that cool electro pop sound around sec 30... oh yeah! it's my feel good beat of the summer nights!

2. Sleigh Bells - Rill Rill. In this song I think Camera Obscura, but way more underground and lofi, and I love me some lofi! It's more chill and less electronic than Take a Heart, but these two are definitely the best of this (for me) highly anticipated album!

3. Alicia Keys + Jack White - Another Way to Die. What a different duo, but it works sooo well! It seems like something outta a spy film (too bad there isn't a new bond film to pick this up). Keys not only lends her vocal talents, but some bad ass piano playing. But I think it's the horns and the strings that really punch this song up for me.

4. Them Crooked Vultures - New Fang. A new Dave Grohl and some other notable people (John Paul Jones - from Led Zepplin, and that awesome singer from Queens of the Stone Age) got together to make another super group, and big surprise... it's awesome. What else would I expect? New Fang is classic rock and roll at it's finest. Great bass riffs, solid drums at the beginning, and a sad yet sweet guitar tearin' up the whole damn things! "So you got me confuuuuusssed..." - I think get that line in my head more often than anything I've heard in a while. I was pretty excited to first hear this album after I heard a rumor that Paul McCartney offered to play bass, only for Grohl to decline with, "it's alright, we already got John Paul Jones." hahahahaha, another sad day for ol' Paul.

5. The Whigs - I Don't Even Care About the One I Love. I heard this one afternoon on 90.3 (awesome Knoxville station) while driving home, and had to go home and find out, who this was and what this was called, and quickly purchase it and repeat repeat repeat! I was a lil' on the fence about the newest Whigs release, but I'm sold and will definitely catch them at the Square Room later this summer.

{ Guatemala }

above picture is of sink hole circa 2007
Another third world country in need no one ever hears about. This past week Guatemala was hit with a crazy volcano eruption and then a mean ol' tropical storm. Here are some soooo sad pics. Please keep all these guys in your thoughts, Guatemala is one of the most beautiful places in the world (check out the newest jcrew catalogue if you don't believe me) {via}

{ dating an architect }

is lame! I'm sure I don't need to tell many of you that. Ryan said he couldn't date them because no financial security (lol!) and I tried it for almost 6 years and it was a disaster! variety people... we can't talk about how bitter we are all the time... so here's a nice lil' web comic for your enjoyment, and remember if an archie asks you out, just say 'no!' also check out the rest of the nerdy comic on architexts {via}

{ well obviously my cat needs to tweet }

I guess the header sums this up! lol!
Sony Computer Science Laboratories has created a device that detects cats' activities and Tweets them. Using a camera, an acceleration sensor, and GPS, it keeps track of the cats movements, tracking basic activities like eating, sleeping, walking, and playing with other cats. It then sends one of 11 set text messages via bluetooth to a computer and posts it to the cat's Twitter feed. {via}

{ what disney princesses teach girls }

{ you know that we own you }
